Give your dog a hobby they’ll look forward to every week! Urban Rat Race is an exciting scent sport that gives dogs a safe, rewarding outlet for their natural instincts. Every class is a new adventure, as dogs search indoor environments using their incredible sense of smell to locate safely housed rats hidden among everyday objects. For many dogs, Urban Rat Race becomes the highlight of their week. It provides outstanding mental enrichment, builds confidence, encourages independent problem-solving, and allows dogs to do what they were born to do—use their noses. Urban Rat Race 1 introduces both the sport and the competition levels of Rookie and Clever. Teams begin with straightforward searches before progressing to multiple hides and the introduction of distractions, developing the skills needed for both successful searching and future competition. Many teams participate simply because their dogs love the challenge, while others choose to test their skills in Urban Rat Race Trials. Both paths are equally rewarding. This class is designed to be taken more than once. Every dog develops at a different pace, and every six-week session features new search areas, hiding places, and challenges. Many teams repeat Urban Rat Race 1 while building confidence or successfully Trialling at the Rookie and Clever levels. Prerequisites: No previous rat sport experience is required. Dogs should be comfortable working around other dogs and people.
